Overview

Role: Financial Planning & Analysis Section Manager - Motorcycles & Power Products

At Honda we embrace inclusion in our policies, with contract hours stated as required (minimum 35 hours per week) and flexibility for when you work. Regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a 30-minute lunch break and 08:00 – 13:00 on Friday. Flexibility is offered with a daily start window between 07:00 and 11:00, subject to business requirements.

There is no contractual right to work from home, but you can request to work from home 2 days per week, again subject to business requirements.

Role focus: The HME-Finance European FP&A team analyzes monthly results, coordinates budgeting and forecasting (short and long term), and provides commercial finance decision support to the European business. The team supports both Head Office and the wider European region to maximise profit and achieve budget accuracy. This role sits within the management reporting and analysis section, delivering budgeting & forecasting, monthly analysis of results, and ad hoc financial support to the Head Office business. It manages one Finance Specialist and collaborates with Finance Operations on the month-end process.


Main Responsibilities

Analysis of Actual Results

* Collaborate with Financial Operations to ensure accuracy of period-end closings for Head Office/HME-Central by providing business expertise and commercial knowledge, then support the Department Manager in review and analysis of final output.
* Support Department Manager with timely performance analysis, insight and reporting to senior stakeholders. Work with Business Planning teams to understand division results (Head Office and consolidated European basis) and recommend improvement opportunities, including Balance Sheet analysis.
* Work with the wider Finance team to ensure data quality supports accurate analysis.
* Highlight key business performance risks, issues and opportunities, interpreting results to enable key decisions and target achievement.
* Collaborate with Business Operations to understand root causes and propose recommendations to improve performance and control.
* Work with BP teams on FX impact analysis as directed.
* Contribute to a limited number of SOX controls related to analysis and reporting; review some balance sheet reconciliations (split with Finance Operations to be decided).
* Circulate monthly MC PCA and PP equivalents for branch completion and summarize for division and department managers.
* Contribute to the production and analysis of the Monthly Operating Report (MOR) presentation, particularly MC content.

Budgeting and Forecasting

* Coordinate MC and PP budgeting processes for the European region with FP&A Department Manager and BP teams, ensuring alignment with division objectives and providing guidance to budget preparers.
* Support Head Office MC and PP business teams in budget preparation.
* Contribute to MC and PP GA budgets for Head Office and work with BU Department Managers to ensure branch GA accuracy and consistency.
* GP update for MC and PP at HME Head Office (GB01).
* Monitor and communicate budget performance against targets.
* Review SGA budgets for quality (phasing, granularity, etc.) and challenge assumptions where appropriate.
* GP accuracy checks (overall and internal transactions among Honda Motor, Honda Motor Europe and Honda Turkey).
* Work with Department Manager on scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to test robustness and identify profit opportunities.
* Support Department Manager in developing accurate Balance Sheet budgeting, including loan forecasts.
* Assist in preparing budget packs and presentations to Leadership teams.
* Collaborate with the central FP&A team to prepare the final budget pack, summarising overall performance of the European region.
* Identify root causes of variances to improve forecasting accuracy and provide accounting guidance for budget treatments.
* Promote tools to increase budget accuracy (e.g., ABB, risks and ops logs).

Performance Management

* Support business reviews with HME divisions.
* Develop financial projections with BP teams using Niguri (sales and supply planning tool) as required, including consideration of rolling forecasts.
* Develop plans for profit improvement with entities and monitor progress with the wider FP&A team.
* Provide insight on budget performance, including KPIs across branches.
* Advocate cost driver understanding and cost control.
* Drive process improvements in working capital management with the Finance team.

Commercial Finance Support

* Be the key Finance point of contact for MC and PP product divisions’ financial matters.
* Contribute financial expertise to relevant business projects for MC and PP divisions.
* Support projects (including ISD cost centre spend) ensuring ROI is accurately determined and investments make financial sense.
* Provide financial representation at HME MC and PP meetings as required.
* Support Group Finance with audit requirements (internal and external).
* Play a key role in projects such as trade S4 and budget software replacement as directed by the Department Manager.

Lead, Manage, Motivate and Develop the FP&A Team

* Motivate, develop and manage the one direct report.

Continually Improve Systems and Processes

* Assist the Department Manager in developing efficiencies in current processes and reporting structures, pursuing automation and self-service where appropriate.
* Stay up to date with FP&A industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes; propose improvements to FP&A processes.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Qualifications

* Qualified accountant – CIMA/ACCA/ACA

Skills

* Strong team player with ability to motivate a direct report to achieve tasks under pressure and tight deadlines.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Detail oriented; comfortable working with varied financial experience across Europe and bridging finance/non-finance gaps.
* Well organised with a flexible approach.
* Proven record of process improvement in FP&A context.
* Challenging mindset and responsiveness to customer requirements.

Experience

* Experience in FP&A tasks.
* SAP, ERP software and advanced Excel skills are highly desirable.

Additional attributes/qualities

* Industry experience or strong product interest is advantageous.
* A curious, willing and capable learner of the latest tech solutions to support FP&A (e.g., Power BI, Power Query, RPA, AI).
* Some European travel may be required but is not expected to be frequent.
