Power Automate Architect (Microsoft Power Platform) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Power Automate Architect to lead the design, governance, and enterprise-scale implementation of automation solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform, with a particular focus on Power Automate (Cloud & Desktop). This role is critical in establishing a robust Automation Centre of Excellence ( CoE ), driving intelligent workflow automation, and ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned to enterprise architecture standards. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of business transformation, architecture, and engineering, enabling organisations (e.g. policing units, public sector bodies, regulated enterprises) to modernise operations through low-code automation and AI-driven workflows. Requirements Key Responsibilities 1. Architecture & Solution Design Define end-to-end architecture for Power Automate solutions (Cloud Flows & Desktop Flows / RPA) Design scalable automation frameworks integrating: Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook) Dynamics 365 Azure services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault) Third-party APIs and legacy systems Establish reusable patterns for: Event-driven workflows API orchestration Data transformation and integration Define hybrid automation patterns (Power Automate RPA Azure integration) 2. Centre of Excellence (CoE) Leadership Design and implement a Power Platform CoE framework, including: Governance model (environment strategy, DLP policies) Solution lifecycle management (ALM using Azure DevOps / GitHub) Standards, templates, and reusable components Define automation intake, prioritisation, and delivery frameworks Enable federated development (citizen developers pro developers) 3. Governance, Security & Compliance Define and enforce: Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies Role-based access control (RBAC) Environment strategy (Dev / Test / Prod / Sandbox) Ensure compliance with: UK GDPR / Data Protection Act Public sector security standards (e.g. NCSC guidance) Implement monitoring, auditing, and logging strategies 4. Integration & Enterprise Architecture Alignment Architect integrations with: Enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, case management systems) API gateways and middleware platforms Define when to use: Power Automate vs Azure Logic Apps vs custom services Align automation solutions with enterprise architecture principles (TOGAF, etc.) 5. DevOps & ALM Define CI/CD pipelines for Power Platform: Managed solutions Automated deployments Implement versioning and release management strategies Establish environment provisioning and configuration automation 6. Performance, Scalability & Reliability Design for: High-volume automation workloads Resilience and retry mechanisms Concurrency control and throttling limits Optimise flows for performance and cost efficiency 7. Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory Work with business stakeholders to: Identify automation opportunities Translate business requirements into technical solutions Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders Support bids, proposals, and strategic initiatives 8.
