Data Services Manager, Must live within 2 hours of London or Berkshire and be able to come in for ad-hoc meetings when required. Primarily home based though. Role 90% management and 10% technical and you will manage a team of 6. Salary £ 80000 - 85000 + good benefits.

Expanding financial services client are looking for a Data Services Manager to join their team. The role will suit a candidate who has been a manager for a couple of years and is looking to further develop their management career. Guiding a team of 6 you will be responsible for supporting the day to day operations of the data function, with a focus on leading and mentoring data engineers to deliver high quality, scaleable data solutions. Working across the business with multiple stakeholders you will design and continually improve data solutions.
A critical aspect of this role is Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Management practices, ensuring the business meet regulatory obligations and manage risk. You must have therefore worked in a regulated environment, ideally financial services.
Accountabilities Include
* Technical leadership - provide technical leadership for the high performing data engineering and BI function.
* Team leadership - manage the team and act as deputy to the Senior Data Services Manager.
* Delivery of Solutions - deliver data, analytic and reporting solutions.
* Data Governance and Data Quality
* Work prioritisation and allocation
* Agile Delivery
* Risk and compliance
* Technical debt management
Experience Required
* Strong experience as a hands-on data engineer
* Worked you way into a lead data role and then into a management (mentoring, coaching, team development etc)
* Very strong technical skills that will include - SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SAS, Power BI, Power Platform, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Databricks
* A good understanding of dimensional modelling techniques, including Kimball's Business Development Lifecycle
* Ability to design hybrid data solutions across on-prem and cloud data sources
* Expert with data engineering tools and automation techniques
This is a great chance to join an expanding business in a key role. You are likely to have been in a hands-n data engineering role for over 10 years and more recently managed or led a data engineering team (c 2 years management experience required).
