Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Nurse to work as the Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Oncology Sarcoma/GIST Team.
You will be based within Oncology outpatients but also be involved with inpatient care. You will have excellent communication and time management skills, the ability to work under pressure and to work alongside and manage the current Support Nurse.
You will work with various members of the wider MDT team, managing and supporting patients from referral, during treatment and towards end of life. The caseload incorporates Teenage and Young Adult (TYA). You will have the ability to work as an autonomous practitioner, developing and leading nurse‑led clinics, showing evidence of advanced decision making whilst being a core member of the wider Oncology CNS Team.
Main duties of the job
As a recognised expert in Sarcoma/GIST you will manage a caseload of patients, whilst coordinating and streamlining their care. You will provide specialist advice, support and liaise with other MDT members, and implement a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence‑based care.

Job responsibilities
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
* Provide specialist nursing care and support to patients and their families throughout the care pathway.
* Lead and manage nurse‑led clinics within the Sarcoma/GIST team.
* Advise and support multidisciplinary team members on clinical, therapeutic and palliative care matters.
* Develop and deliver educational training for staff and patients.
* Implement and monitor quality assurance and clinical governance standards.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
* Registered Nurse educated to Degree level or willingness to undertake
* Post-registration qualification in speciality
* Advanced communication skills/counselling qualification or willingness to undertake
Desirable:
* Advanced clinical assessment course
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Leadership module/equivalent
Experience
Essential:
* Significant relevant experience in the specialty and ability to demonstrate expert nursing skills.
* Experience in palliative care.
* Experience of nurse‑led clinics.
Desirable:
* Line management of junior staff.
* Experience of formal/informal teaching.
* Experience of initiating change.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Understanding of patient pathways, its complexities and how to support patients through this.
