Health Care Assistants - IPU role at NHS
Salary: £23,875 - £25,617 per annum full time equivalent (37.5 hours) plus enhancements. Full time and part time hours available. Current Location: Camberley, Surrey (Farnham, Surrey from Spring 2026).

Responsibilities
* Clinical: ensure statutory obligations relevant to the clinical area are met; maintain quality standards to deliver holistic care; support assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care within your qualifications and under supervision; follow agreed models of care and work allocation; escalate any clinical or non-clinical incidents to the nurse in charge and complete incident documentation; assist with investigations and risk assessments as appropriate.
* Professional: understand and work within the Health and Social Care Act 2008, and PT business plan and philosophy; work as part of the multidisciplinary team providing holistic care to patients, families and carers; deliver a safe, high standard of care in line with PT policies; provide information and support to patients, carers and relatives where appropriate and under supervision; maintain effective relationships with colleagues; maintain accurate records in line with PT standards and Caldicott Guidelines.
* Managerial: work in accordance with PT Health and Safety Governance policies; maintain and support the clinical area and monitor resources; foster a team environment and provide personal support; manage own time effectively to meet PT aims and objectives.
* Training and Development: support the professional development and safe practice of others through peer support, leadership, supervision and teaching; maintain up-to-date knowledge of PT guidelines, policies and procedures; identify and develop own knowledge and clinical skills through continual professional development, clinical supervision, MDT discussions, and annual appraisal.
* Research: participate in research and audit; assist in implementing findings of evidence-based practice.
* Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: understand safeguarding responsibilities and support PT in reducing risk of harm or abuse.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Good communication and interpersonal skills; empathy and compassion; ability to write clearly; understanding importance of reporting changes in a patient’s care to colleagues.
* Care Certificate or willingness to undertake; evidence of health care related courses or life skills; NVQ/QCF/RQF/City & Guilds level 2 or above.
* Commitment to providing high quality, individualized holistic care; competence in fundamental health care duties; understanding of Health and Safety, clinical governance; awareness of patient confidentiality and information governance; commitment to PT policies and procedures.
* Experience in care settings (care home, patient’s own home, or hospital); experience caring for dying patients with progressive diseases.
* Basic IT skills (email and internet) with willingness to enhance IT skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team, take directions, and understand multidisciplinary team working; interpersonal sensitivity; good attendance and punctuality; flexible approach.
* Ability to work unsupervised as appropriate, under the direction of a Registered Nurse; proactive and able to cope with stressful situations; self-awareness and openness to learning.
