As a Design Coordinator, you will deliver multiple brand projects from concept to delivery. You will support the business and Store design team with plans and guidelines, using CAD. You will manage brand design projects with a Project Manager to ensure leading edge and sustainable design solutions, and ensure effective communication with our buyers and brand partners by providing timely updates throughout the project process. You will support the Store Design/Property Team and Buying Team in all Retail Planning and Design matters to deliver best-in-class solutions for all stores by:
1. Ensuring effective design coordination of projects through the entire design, development, and delivery process.
2. Assisting the senior Design team in preparation for design-related meetings and/or presentations to the Board/Executive and Directors.
As a Design Coordinator, you will:
1. Be part of a design team delivering world-class retail experiences.
2. Manage the collation and production of compartment/department design guidelines.
3. Provide CAD support when required to support the wider team.
4. Coordinate and liaise with other key contacts, e.g., M&E projects, Facilities, Project Management Office.
5. Assist in the production of presentations.
6. Conduct brand design briefings with the support of the Project Manager and Buyer.
7. Analyze and review design packages, providing feedback and comments. You will be responsible for presenting the brand concepts to Selfridges' directors/stakeholders for approval.
Manage the approvals of brand shopfit projects through concept and detailed design stages:
1. Concept: Ensuring projects adhere to Selfridges’ Masterplan and store & sustainable guidelines.
2. Liaise with brands throughout concept, detail, and design phases through to project completion.
3. Ensure timely and sufficient design information is passed to the Project Manager and internal teams for project delivery.
4. Work closely with project management and internal teams to maintain design integrity at each stage.
5. Participate in post-project reviews and design analysis.
6. Manage the evolution and communication of key Selfridges’ design specifications, e.g., cash desk and fitting room templates.
7. Ensure designs meet or exceed quality standards and comply with legislation and external authorities.
8. Work within defined project timescales and budgets, communicating progress to stakeholders.
9. Carry out site visits during installation.
10. Encourage design innovation and creativity through research trips.
11. Maintain communication plans for the design stage.
12. Inform internal departments and external brand design teams about project status and development.
13. Promote understanding of Selfridges’ brand values among external consultants.
14. Work effectively with the Design Manager and Coordinators to maintain a focused team.
15. Support retail planning with capacity studies, fixture evaluations, and writing retail briefs.
About You
1. Deep knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign & Photoshop), and Microsoft Office.
2. Knowledge of SketchUp is an advantage.
