Job summary
Hereford County Hospital is a busy district general hospital serving the population of Herefordshire, Powys, and parts of Shropshire. We currently have a vacancy in ultrasound for a consultant sonographer.
The Radiology and Ultrasound department has undergone significant changes over the last 5 years since entering into a partnership with Philips, providing the opportunity to work with up-to-date technology.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), opening in 2025 within Herefordshire.
The CDC will include Imaging (Plain X-ray, Ultrasound, MRI, and CT), various cardiorespiratory investigations, and pathology services in a "one-stop" location for diagnostic information. The successful candidate will rotate through the newly built CDC.
Prospective candidates are welcome to have an informal discussion with Mrs. Rose Jones (Lead Sonographer) at 01432 364232.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to hold a BSc in Radiography, a Postgraduate Diploma, and an MSc in Medical Ultrasound.
The post holder should have a specialist area of interest requiring advanced interpretation skills and clinical decision-making. They must exercise a high degree of autonomy, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and decision-making skills beyond those of a conventional sonographer.
We are a busy department, and the successful candidate will participate in a 7-day working shift system.
