Health Care Support work

Full time (part time considered)

An opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join the fast paced team on children inpatient ward (Northbrook) .If this sounds like you or are you looking for a new challenge we are interested in hearing from you! As an integrated service we pride ourselves in delivering health care at the point of need and are one of the few such organised services within the UK.

Northbrook Ward on the Winchester site is an 18 bedded unit that provides care for children who require admission as an emergency, from The Emergency Department (ED), Sophie’s Place (SP) or GP’s. Children may also be booked in for treatment with Oncology, Orthopaedic, General Surgical or Medical Problems.

At HHFT, we offer a full and comprehensive orientation package and professional support suited to your individual needs, alongside ongoing support from the Clinical Education Team, in order for you to achieve your full potential. We offer dedicated QIS / Child learning opportunities, often linked to the wider network, to enhance your continued professional development.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to support and work along the nursing staff to ensure that high quality care is delivered to the children and their families that access our service.

Evidence of excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment are essential for the role Evidence of Childcare / nursery nurse training is essential.

It is our responsibility to provide you opportunities and support to develop further skills that will enable you to extend and enhance the role.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. NVQ level 2 or equivalent or above in Health or Health and Social Care or working towards or NVQ child care/NEEB/City & Guilds

Desirable criteria

2. Basic understanding of normal child development

Experience & Knowledge

3. One years’ experience working with children and general public.

4. Previous NHS experience

5. Able to work without direct supervision.
