An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Support Officer to join our Clinical Genomics team, supporting the delivery of high-impact projects that enhance patient care and operational services. You will work at the heart of a dynamic programme driving innovation across molecular diagnostics and genomics services.
In this role, you will support the successful delivery of projects by coordinating day-to-day activities, maintaining key project documentation, and facilitating communication across multidisciplinary teams. You will assist with project planning, tracking milestones, managing RAID logs, and preparing reports to support effective governance and decision-making. You will also support financial and resource coordination, including procurement processes and budget tracking.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of strategic projects withing Clinical Genomics that enhance patient care and operational services. Working alongside the project team and workstream leads, the post-holder will help ensure projects progress smoothly by coordinating day-to-day activities, maintaining project documentation, and facilitating communication across diverse stakeholder groups.
The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the project team, overseeing administrative tasks, ensuring the successful delivery of projects and that projects produce the required products, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost The post-holder will also ensure resource availability for the project team by liaising with the required teams and helping with raising resource request and quotes.

• Expertise of working with Project Managers in the development of project management documents such as project briefs, project plans, RAID logs and coordinate the delivery of projects by the Project Managers
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Assist the project team with planning, scheduling and tracking project activities, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met on time and within agreed scope
• Maintain project plans, RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), and action trackers to support effective governance
• Assist the project team in the preparation and completion of routine and ad-hoc reports Maintain information systems to accurately store and analyse project data to meet the needs of the project and programme
• Ability to execute project management administrative and bookkeeping tasks such as managing invoices, purchase orders and inventory reports, among other financial documents and organising all project-related paperwork
• Experience of working in a project management team or oversight role with a good understanding of governance and assurance processes; and,
• Ability to interpret complex data from multiple sources, reporting progress clearly and effectively. Working with the Project Managers in identifying key risks and issues and ensuring timely mitigation or escalation by managing and owning the project and programme RAID log and updating the RAID log with the PM once a month
• Experience assisting Project Managers in navigating and using project management processes/framework and embed this into their deliveries
• Ability to work with the project team to develop and/or improve existing internal processes, and gain buy in from stakeholders at all levels
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. You should have experience supporting projects within a complex organisation, strong IT skills (including Excel and project tools), and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. A recognised project management qualification (or working towards one) is desirable.

Essential criteria
1. Degree level or equivalent experience
2. Significant relevant professional experience and/or Project/Programme Management Certification (for example PMP, PRINCE2 or MSP)
3. Evidence of continuous personal development including project and programme management
4. Evidence of using project methodology over recent years
Desirable criteria
5. BSc in Scientific discipline

6. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the project team, stakeholders s, clinicians and other health and care professionals
7. Ability to support the development of new and/or improve existing internal processes and embed within an organisation
8. Excellent written communication skills; able to write clearly and concisely and produce reports
9. Excellent oral communication, presentation and negotiating skills and is confident presenting to large groups
10. Ability to prioritise conflicting demands, work under pressure and to tight deadlines
11. Advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
