Job Description Summary
GE Caledonian at Prestwick is a world‑class aero engine overhaul repair facility, specialising in the refurbishment of advanced technology engines for some of the world's largest airlines.
Over 800 highly trained personnel are employed at our purpose‑built facility adjacent to Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, each making a valuable contribution to the continued success of the business.
In order to maintain the high standards demanded by our customers, it is essential to train people for the engineering positions of the future. In partnership with Ayrshire College, GE Caledonian delivers a Modern Apprenticeship programme designed to meet current industry standards. Students will work on the most modern aircraft jet engines and accessories, and will receive training commensurate with our position as world leaders. Participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award scheme and volunteering initiatives is expected.
Applicants must have gained or be working towards an SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations or a Foundation Apprenticeship. During the three‑year programme they will gain the necessary theory and on‑job training to achieve a minimum of SVQ Level 3, an HNC in Engineering, and develop core skills.

Role Description
The Engineering Apprentice will function under the overall guidance of the Apprentice Coordinator and, on a day‑to‑day basis, be managed by the Team Leader/Supervisor in charge of the department where training is taking place. Practical experience and theoretical knowledge will be gained while obtaining formal qualifications that are recognised and fully transferable within the aerospace industry.

* Demonstrate good problem‑solving abilities and think on your feet.
* Have basic PC knowledge of networking and communication.
* Work to targets and deadlines.
* Carry out qualifications work on jet engines.
* Collaborate with your team on the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) at SCQF Level 5 completed by July 2026, or Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering completed by July 2026.
* Team player, cooperative, and interested in further personal and career development.
* High degree of flexibility, highly motivated, and able to work under pressure.
