As a Smallworld Database Engineer, you will: Manage and maintain the Smallworld GIS database environment including VMDS, Oracle, and associated applications. Install, configure, and support the Smallworld suite (Core SW4/SW5, PNI, EO, GDO, GTO, GSS, GSA, DM, MES, NRM, K8) in complex infrastructure environments. Work across the full stack using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and AngularJS for user interface enhancements and system integrations. Leverage cloud infrastructure technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) to modernize deployment and support environments. Apply best practices in source control and development lifecycle processes to ensure stability and consistency in production systems. What You Bring to the Table: 5 years of experience with Smallworld PNI, Core modules, EO, and related GIS applications. Strong programming skills in Magik, Java, and experience with VMDS and Oracle databases. Proficiency in SQL and shell scripting, with hands-on experience reading and debugging logs. Experience in front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and AngularJS. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and familiarity with cloud-based deployments. Exposure to installation and patching of third-party tools like ONA and Data Center Management. You should possess the ability to: Independently configure and deploy Smallworld systems in customer environments. Analyze and resolve technical issues by interpreting debug logs and system traces. Install OS-level patches and handle live system fixes with minimal downtime. Communicate clearly with both technical teams and end-users in English. Work with MS Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication. Apply object-oriented programming techniques and demonstrate an understanding of system administration principles.
