Randstads client is a Main Contractor with a strong pipeline of commercial projects across the region. They are looking to add to their commercial team with an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Key Responsibilities: As an Experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the financial management of our projects. Your day:to:day duties will include, but not be limited to:
* Assisting Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers with all aspects of commercial management.
* Preparing valuations and payment applications.
* Measuring and valuing variations.
* Procuring and managing sub:contractor accounts, including payments and final accounts.
* Assisting with cost control and forecasting.
* Preparing and analysing cost reports.
* Attending site meetings and liaising with project teams, clients, and sub:contractors.
* Providing contractual advice where necessary.
* Contributing to the preparation of tenders and bids.
* Managing your own smaller projects or specific work packages under supervision, demonstrating your ability to work independently.
About You: The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and organised individual with:
* A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
* Proven experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, working for a Main Contractor would be preferential.
* Demonstrable experience of independently managing smaller projects or significant work packages from inception to final account.
* A solid understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Strong analytical and problem:solving abilities.
* Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, project management software).
* A full UK driving license and willingness to travel to various sites across the North East.
* A proactive attitude and a desire to take ownership of tasks and projects.
