ABOUT THE WORTHGATE SCHOOL The Worthgate School offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 13 from all over the world. JOB OVERVIEW To be an integral part of the kitchen team, assisting the Head Chef with the production of the daily menu and the day to day running of the kitchen. To ensure that the 5 star rating is maintained with the food standards agency. To help with the training and guidance of kitchen staff. Maintain good stock levels, that are rotated correctly and that deliveries are put away correctly. The position is assistant to the Head Chef, who in turn is answerable to the Catering Manager and you will be required to deputise in both their absences. The post holder will be expected to produce good quality food to agreed standard that fulfils the needs of the students and staff, as a balanced diet in accordance with Government legislation (Food Policy in Schools). MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Please note the below is not an exhaustive list of duties and reference should be made to the job description for this. To provide & produce meals at high volume, ensuring quality is maintained and value for money is achieved. To ensure all students & staff are getting a varied and balanced diet in accordance with the Government legislation requirements (food policy in schools/boarding standards agency) Understand all HACCP, COSHH, Level 2 Hygiene and SFBB procedures. Recommend and promote new menu ideas and special food events/cultural events and develop new recipe ideas and dishes for the diverse student ranges we have. Management of catering staff within the evening and weekend catering provision. Overview of Health & Safety within the Catering team Computer literate and be able to submit staff sickness and holiday via the online system. Ensure Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) is kept up to date with current staff details, suppliers. Ensure all new staff are inducted in the following: basic chemical training (COSHH), Food hygiene: to read and understand SFBB book provided, To do a Child awareness course. To report any incidents, accidents or complaints in the SFBB book and report any urgent incidents to the Head of Operations. Produce new menus and work together with the Head of Operations and catering team.
