We’re looking for an enthusiastic, community‑focused Recycling Officer to join our Street Scene and Waste Services team. This is a varied frontline role that plays a key part in promoting recycling, engaging with communities across Plymouth and supporting positive behavioural change around waste and recycling.
About The Role
* Deliver recycling and environmental education sessions in schools and community settings
* Engage with residents, community groups and partners to promote waste and recycling initiatives
* Organise and support events and local projects, including supervising volunteers
* Coordinate and respond to service requests arising from community engagement activities
* Carry out site visits to monitor standards and support operational delivery
* Ensure health and safety requirements are met, including completing risk assessments
* Support enforcement activity in collaboration with other services where required
About You
* Experience engaging directly with the public, community groups or volunteers in both face‑to‑face and remote settings
* Confidence presenting information and engaging audiences in both group and one‑on‑one settings
* The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a mobile working environment
* Experience working with data, including large datasets, and presenting information clearly
* Good digital skills, including use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
* Knowledge of health and safety practices, including risk assessments
* A full driving licence

As this post involves regular work in schools and engagement with children and young people an Enhanced DBS Check including Children’s Barred List will be required. Any offer of employment will be subject to the satisfactory outcome of this check.
This role is not suitable for flexible working due to the operational needs of the service.
