JOB TITLE: Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Public Cloud)
HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Leeds office.
At Lloyds Banking Group, we're all driven by our purpose, to Help Britain Prosper. It's why we exist - it's our reason to get out of bed in the morning. The choices we make, our success and our future really matter.
But the world is changing, fast. And we're changing too. It's never been a more exciting time to join us as we transform our business to shape finance as a force for good. We're modernising with cloud, a platform that is quick, secure and resilient for customers and easy, modern and green for developers.
We're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help improve the reliability, performance, and observability of our Azure and GCP environments. You'll work as part of a multi‑disciplinary engineering squad, contributing to the delivery, operation and continual improvement of our cloud‑hosted services.
This is a great role if you're passionate about engineering, enjoy problem‑solving, and want to grow your SRE capability in a supportive, modern, cloud‑first environment.
What You'll Be Doing
As an SRE, you will:
* Support the reliability and performance of the cloud platforms your squad owns
* Use observability tooling, metrics and logs to detect, diagnose and prevent issues
* Contribute to incident response, post‑incident reviews, and problem management
* Help build automation that removes toil and improves operational efficiency
* Work with engineers, Product Owners and platform teams to balance reliability with delivery
* Contribute to improving SLOs, error budgets and product health measures
* Participate in engineering ceremonies, knowledge‑sharing and continual improvement initiatives
What You'll Bring
Technical Skills
* Experience with public cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP)
* Experience with Github pipelines and Terraform Modules
* Understanding of observability (metrics, logs, traces) and how they improve system health
* Some exposure to SRE concepts such as SLOs, SLIs and error budgets
* Ability to write or contribute to automation (Python, PowerShell, Terraform, CI/CD etc.)
* Knowledge of modern engineering practices such as DevOps, infrastructure‑as‑code and automation
Ways of Working
* Collaborative approach - comfortable working with engineers, product teams and operations
* Curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools, services and SRE techniques
* Ability to investigate problems, analyse data and communicate findings clearly
* Mindset focused on continuous improvement and delivering high‑quality outcomes
Why Join Us?
You'll be joining a team that:
* Is modernising at pace using Cloud, automation and real‑time observability
* Encourages experimentation, learning and professional development
* Values diversity, inclusion and flexible working
* Offers great benefits including pension, performance‑related bonus and career progression pathways
The role offers strong opportunities to build engineering depth, develop SRE expertise, and progress into more senior engineering or SRE leadership roles over time.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
* A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
* An annual performance-related bonus
* Share schemes including free shares
* Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
* 30 days' holiday, with bank holidays on top
* A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
