University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and supportive neurology department on a 6‑month locum basis. You will be based at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth but will be part of the wider neurology team at the Wessex Neurological Centre, University Hospital Southampton. You will work Monday to Friday running neurology outpatient clinics, with timetabled attendance at the weekly radiology and academic meetings. We are a busy department serving the population of Portsmouth and the surrounding area.
You will be a dynamic neurologist with a passion for patient care and a desire to work with a team who can support you to develop as a neurologist. Person Specification
Qualifications, Training & Experience
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* GMC registration with a licence to practise
* Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
* Clinical experience of general management principles in adult neurology
* CCT in Neurology (or expected within 6 months of interview) – desirable
* Leadership experience – desirable
Aptitudes and Skills
* Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi‑professional teams
* Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
* Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English)
* Demonstrate good organisational skills including ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
* Demonstrate the ability to be calm, compassionate, and able to respond efficiently to various circumstances, which may change rapidly
* Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
* Car driver, with full driving licence, or ability to travel between hospital sites or for necessary patient visits
* Confident using Microsoft office applications – desirable
