We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Hertford to assist with the appointment of a Planning Enforcement Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £15.28 - £19.97 per hour
Summary:
The Planning Enforcement Officer will be responsible for investigating and managing planning enforcement cases, ensuring compliance with planning legislation, national and local planning policies, and the Council's Planning Enforcement Plan. The postholder will undertake site inspections, prepare enforcement documentation, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and support the delivery of a high-quality enforcement service that protects the public interest and upholds planning standards.
Responsibilities:
* Manage and investigate planning enforcement cases efficiently, effectively, and within required timescales in accordance with the Council's Planning Enforcement Plan.
* Prepare and present high-quality reports, enforcement notices, breach of condition notices, stop notices, appeal statements, and other enforcement-related documentation.
* Undertake regular site inspections, often at short notice and occasionally outside normal working hours, to assess potential breaches of planning control.
* Maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of planning legislation, regulations, national policy, and local planning guidance.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across Planning Services and other Council departments to ensure enforcement matters are appropriately investigated and resolved.
* Liaise with external agencies, stakeholders, landowners, developers, and members of the public regarding enforcement matters.
Qualification:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning, Planning and Development, or a related discipline.
Essentials:
* Experience of working within planning enforcement, development management, or a related planning environment.
* Knowledge of planning legislation, enforcement procedures, and planning policy.
* Experience of preparing formal reports, notices, and legal documentation.
* Ability to interpret legislation and apply planning policies effectively.
* Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
