Overview
GP Clinical Lead - Urgent Treatment Centre. Lead GP within the UTC, with two administrative sessions per week and the option for up to two additional clinical sessions. Work alongside fellow GPs and Advanced Practitioners (APs) to meet NHS UTC Standards, under the UTC Clinical Manager. Contribute to clinical governance, audits, professional development, and financial governance. The role supports developing the UTC as a learning environment for doctors in training and APs.
Responsibilities
* Clinical governance of the UTC including audit, quality improvement and staff development
* Collaborate with OUH colleagues to improve patient care and patient pathways
* Ensure quality of the service, including skills and competencies of GPs
* Clinical expertise and making final clinical decisions when needed
* Lead investigations of complaints and incidents, ensuring they are reported and used to improve services
* Maintain compliance with CQC outcomes and service delivery requirements
* Recruitment and development of team members
* Enable all clinical and admin team members to contribute to service improvements
* Work with PML Directors to align with commissioners and develop the service
* Ensure service aligns with National and Local Health policy
* Develop and maintain evidence-based clinical protocols/guidelines
* Critically analyse data to inform changes to patient care practices
* Maintain appropriate documentation/records per PML policy
* Maintain own professional development and revalidation requirements
* Triaging referrals, offering virtual or in-person clinics
* Assess health needs of patients with undifferentiated problems; provide health education
* Contribute to team effectiveness and service expansion
* Support complaints policy and ensure proper investigation and follow-up
* Contribute to MDT discussions and collect data for audits
* Maintain patient confidentiality and promote health and safety
* Promote equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues
* Participate in CPD and training as required by PML
* Attend annual performance review and maintain development records for GMC revalidation
* Provide effective communication within the team and with patients and carers
* Apply PML policies, standards, guidance and procedures
