Job Description:
Do you enjoy tax technical research and solving complex technical queries? We are looking for a talented individual at Manager level, from either a corporate or mixed tax background, to be part of our national Central Technical Team. The ideal candidate will have very strong technical skills, drive and curiosity.
The Central Technical team works together with teams across the tax practice to collect, create, curate and communicate technical insight for the benefit of our teams and clients. This involves both carrying out original research and analyzing knowledge submissions to produce and maintain technical resources to support our teams in delivering work to clients, assisting with complex technical queries, producing tax technical newsletters and monitoring important tax technical developments arising as a result of case law or the annual Budget and Finance Bill process, working closely with the separate Tax Policy team as required.
We are currently growing the team to increase our technical expertise, expand our collection of detailed guidance, and ensure our reference materials are current, maintained, and aligned with technological developments including AI tools.
Team members are based across the UK, supporting hybrid and flexible working. While the role is not directly client-facing, it is essential that the candidate understands client issues.
Responsibilities:
* Producing technical reference and thought leadership materials on specified topics.
* Undertaking research to draft technical reference materials based on legislation, case law, and guidance, incorporating insights from existing resources and experts.
* Maintaining and updating materials promptly for legal and practice changes.
* Supporting client service teams with technical queries.
* Engaging with HMRC and HMT on relevant topics, including responses to consultations.
* Assisting with the development of technological research tools, including AI solutions.
* Providing technical support for training initiatives, which may include developing or reviewing content.
Minimum Requirements:
* Legal or tax qualification (CTA or equivalent).
* Familiarity with the UK tax system and ability to learn new regimes quickly.
* Ability to interpret legislation and case law, and conduct legal research.
* Knowledge of tax technology tools, including AI, is desirable.
* Experience in delivering practical advice to clients is desirable.
