Prison Healthcare focuses on delivering substance misuse, Mental Health, and Primary Care services.
The Health Care Support Worker supports healthcare staff in providing care within Swansea Bay University Health Board, ensuring standards and policies are followed.
The role involves assisting registered nurses to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment, and supporting patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs as part of the team.
This diverse role includes delivering high-quality support to the nursing team, caring for a patient population with physical, psychological, substance misuse, and social issues, while adhering to security procedures within the prison setting.
Main duties include:
1. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering care under supervision of registered healthcare professionals.
2. Undertaking personal and clinical care activities with minimal support, in line with HEIW All Wales Guidelines.
3. Updating healthcare professionals on patient conditions and progress.
4. Maintaining a safe and hygienic environment following infection control policies.
5. Contributing to the training and supervision of students and junior staff.
6. Adhering to the Health Board's values and the Code of Conduct for HCSWs in Wales.
