Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person to join our Cardiac Physiology team.

We are a forward thinking, education minded department who offer a wide range of cardiac diagnostic procedures including electrocardiograms, ambulatory monitoring, exercise tolerance testing, head up tilt testing, various echocardiography modalities, a full range of pacemaker and complex device services and a wide range of invasive cardiology testing within our catheter labs. We aim to provide our staff with continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

You will perform routine non-invasive cardiac investigations independently such as: Ambulatory ECG and BP Ambulatory monitor fitting and analysis, performing 12 lead ECG in a range of clinical settings,.

You will assist as the second practitioner in Tilt Table Testing, Exercise Tolerance Testing and Myocardial Perfusion studies. Working under the guidance of a Senior Physiologist.

You will provide assistance to the Implanting Clinician/ Physiologist during ILR implantation, monitoring haemodynamic status and providing patient information.

Applicants applying for this post will be expected to have at least 2 years experience of employment in a Cardiac Physiology/Investigations department as a Cardiographer/Associate Practitioner.

Person specification

Education and Training

Essential criteria


* MInimum of 2 GCSE's or equivalent in maths and English
* External training course on ECG analysis
* NVQ 3 in Healthcare Science or relevant experience

Desirable criteria

* ASCT Part I/part II

Knowledge/skills/abilities

Essential criteria

* Numerate with good command of English language.
* Excellent communication skills
* Able to prioritise and act on own initiative
* Confident and able to deal with challenging situations/individuals

Work experience

Essential criteria

* Minimum 2 years experience as Cardiographer/Associate practitioner
* Experience of making provisional analysis of resting 12 lead ECG

Desirable criteria

* Experience of analysing holter monitors
