An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Alder Hey's Outpatient Team as a Therapy Assistant in the Plaster Room.

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic individual to assist in delivering high standards of care and a positive patient experience for children and young people in our Outpatients Department. The role of the Therapy Assistant will support our Team of Specialist Orthopaedic Practitioners in providing a comprehensive plaster service to children, young people and their families and contribute to the smooth running of the service.

Experience of working in a care environment with children/young people is advantageous, however not essential, as on the job training will be delivered

To be an integral member of the plaster room team, assisting the Specialist Orthopaedic Practitioners to deliver management and treatment of the children referred to the service.

To participate in the delivery of assessments and treatment plans agreed by the Clinical Teams, delivering a high standard of paediatric care and providing on-going liaison and reporting any changes or developments in the patient's presentation to the nursing or medical staff, as indicated

* To monitor and maintain condition and cleaning of equipment, in accordance with departmental policies

To monitor levels of equipment and order as required, ensuring that stocks are maintained and stored appropriately

* To assist with recording of statistics and development of audits of the service. Contribute to and maintain databases, under guidance
* To process referrals and prepare records as required

To have knowledge of and comply with organisational and department policies and procedures

To be accountable for all aspects of own work

Participate in service training, meetings internal/external courses

Actively participate in the PDR process

Use effective communication tools, verbal and non-verbal to communicate treatment programmes to patients who may have barriers to understanding or communicating,

T o participate in the delivery of care/treatment agreed with the Specialist Practitioner

To undertake skilled support work to treat patients, at times to work without direct supervision, prioritising own workload

To organise the maintenance, safety checking and repair of aids and equipment

Be responsible for administrative arrangements as required by the Team
