Role Overview
Trust Doctor (equivalent to ST5+) in Cardiology. The Barts Heart Centre is Europe’s largest cardiac centre, featuring advanced imaging modalities and specialised cardiology services. The post offers exposure to a wide variety of cardiovascular conditions and is suitable for those with a grounding in general cardiology who wish to gain experience in advanced imaging and specialised cardiology.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and perform studies across cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, advanced echocardiography (exercise/dobutamine/CPEX stress, deformation and 3D echocardiography, TOE) and nuclear cardiology.
* Report studies on patients, maintaining patient safety at all times and assisting in the smooth running of these departments.
* Provide outpatient, inpatient and MDT management support for specialised cardiology service patients (cardio‑oncology, heart muscle disease, advanced heart failure, preventive cardiology).
* Deliver a cardiology consult service under consultant supervision during ward weeks (9 AM–5 PM, 1:7 rotation) to the Medical Assessment Unit, ITU, oncology and other wards, providing cardiology advice in haemato‑oncology units.
* Participate in non‑consult weeks, including 3–4 sessions of training in advanced imaging, cardio‑oncology, advanced heart failure, inherited heart disease, and 2–3 clinics (general or specialised cardiology). Also involved in admin, research, audit and teaching sessions.
* Comply with the European Working Time Directive and adhere to all applicable policies and safety procedures.
