Building Physics / Sustainability Consultant
Location: Colchester
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 plus DOE
A dynamic and forward-thinking consultancy specialising in Acoustic Design, Fire Engineering, and Building Surveying is looking to hire an experienced Building Physics/ Sustainability Consultant. The firm conducts work across all sectors of the built environment, with a diverse client base throughout the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting SAP calculations, DSM energy modelling and assessing overheating risks
Ability to manage projects independently and effectively
Build strong client relationships and growing services within a consultancy environment
Collaborating with architects, MEP and structural engineers to integrate sustainability into design
Ability to provide design guidance and technical input in meetings and reviewsWhat we’re looking for:
Degree in Sustainable Design, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 3 years’ experience in building physics and sustainability consultancy
Proficiency in SAP calculations, DSM energy modelling, and assessing overheating risks (CIBSE TM59)
Strong experience using IESVE for energy modelling and simulation
In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and sustainability standards (e.g., Part L, Part O, NABERS, BREEAM)
Proficient in SAP assessments using Elmhurst software
Knowledge of UK planning and construction processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of preparing high-quality reports and delivering presentationsBenefits:
