Growing regional food wholesaler just north of Boston is seeking a Buyer to manage the procurement of products for the company. This includes vendor sourcing and qualification, pricing negotiations, and ensuring inventory levels meet demand.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with vendors on a daily basis; ordering products, negotiating pricing and terms, and managing ongoing relationships.
* Prepare purchase orders, track shipments, and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Coordinate with inventory to maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand.
* Qualify and source new vendors for new product lines.
* Analyze regional markets to ensure competitive pricing.
* Handle credit memos for damaged or incorrect items from suppliers and resolve shipment or cost discrepancies.
Requirements:
* 3-5 years of purchasing experience of finished products within a food wholesale/distribution setting.
* Strong skills in MS Excel and data manipulation.
* Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Spanish speaking skills are a plus.
