Consultant Social Worker – Family Safeguarding

Salary: £46,142 – £51,357 per annum

Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Social Worker to join our Family Safeguarding Team based in Chorley and South Ribble. The role combines management responsibilities with hands‑on practice. You will support less experienced social workers, manage a reduced case load, and lead the team in the absence of the Team Manager while ensuring positive outcomes for children and their families.
Responsibilities
* Support and develop less experienced social workers to enhance their practice.
* Manage a reduced case load while maintaining high quality service to children and families.
* Lead and coordinate team learning activities, including group supervision and use of the LCS workbook.
* Support the upskilling of workers, embed motivational interviewing skills, and coordinate integration of learning.
* Hold oversight responsibility for up to two Specialist Adult Workers and a Child and Family Practitioner.
* Depute for the Team Manager when required.
* Attend to cases across children in need, child protection, pre‑proceedings, court work, and adoption.
* Work evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered on the Social Care Register (SWE) or able to apply for registration.
* Experience in children’s social care, child protection, and related services.
* Strong knowledge of strengths‑based practice and experience with family safeguarding.
* Experience managing a small team and facilitating training or supervision.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
