Vehicle Mechanic £39,000 Monday -Friday 08:00-16:00 This is an exciting chance for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to work hands-on with specialist Ground Service Equipment (GSE) at the airport. From powerful towing tractors to precision baggage elevators, you’ll be working on machines that keep aircraft moving and passengers flying. We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to join client at East Midlands Airport. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our ground support equipment (GSE) fleet, keeping airside operations running efficiently and safely. Vehicle Mechanic-What You'll Do: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of GSE vehicles and equipment. Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. Maintain accurate and detailed service records for all GSE equipment. Collaborate with internal customers to understand their needs and provide exceptional service. Contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to all health and safety regulations. Participate in scheduled preventative maintenance (PPM) for GSE vehicles and equipment. Repair vehicles and plants as requested by the Workshop Supervisor Carry out inspections, brake and smoke tests and show all defects to the Workshop Supervisor before commencing with any repairs or booking out any parts Diagnose and inform the Workshop Supervisor of all work and parts required before commencing job Job card/inspection sheet must be completed correctly to current point of repair and handed to the Workshop Supervisor at the end of each day's shift. All non-productive time is also to be added to the correct job card for authorisation by the Workshop Supervisor Update the Workshop Supervisor of any further work or parts required immediately Present job cards at stores to enable parts to be supplied Inform the Workshop Supervisor of any VOR parts immediately All booked parts used from workshop must on the front of job cards and all parts taken out of hours must be written on parts sheet as confirmation Label parts and put them onto correct shelves, e.g. warranty or exchange unit Inform the Workshop Supervisor immediately upon job completion Quarantine, label and report all defective tooling immediately to the site Workshop Supervisor Report any defective items immediately to the Workshop Supervisor Accurately complete and hand in manual daily time sheet after each day of shift Vehicle Mechanic Experience: Minimum 5 years Salary: £39,000-£43,000 per annum Hours: Monday to Friday 0800AM-1600PM Location: EMA-based workshop, with occasional travel to Birmingham Airport Other Notes: Experience with GSE (Ground Support Equipment) is advantageous but not essential Heavy Goods Licence desirable
