Lancashire County Council is seeking three dedicated and skilled Social Workers to join our vibrant Duty and Assessment Teams in East, North, and Central Lancashire. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking service, where your expertise will help shape the lives of children and families across the county.

This is a specialist role within the Duty and Assessment Team, responsible for a specialist area of work: completing statutory assessments of need for children with disabilities, parent/carer assessments, and the review of care packages and direct payment reviews.

About the Role

As a Social Worker in our Duty and Assessment Teams, you will:

1. Undertake statutory needs assessments for children with disabilities.
2. Complete parent/carer assessments.
3. Review and monitor direct payment packages and care packages.
4. Manage a varied caseload, ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people.
5. Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies to provide the right support at the right time.
6. Participate in the team’s duty rota and contribute to the development of social work students.

You will play a key role in safeguarding children, promoting their welfare, and ensuring their voices are heard throughout the assessment and planning process.

What We’re Looking For

7. Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, Degree in Social Work, or equivalent).
8. Registered with Social Work England.
9. At least 3 years’ post-qualification experience working with children with disabilities and their families.
10. Strong assessment, communication, and partnership working skills.
11. Commitment to equality, diversity, and continuous professional development.
12. Ability to travel across Lancashire (essential car user post).

Why Join Us?

13. Benefits: There's fabulous flexibility and the opportunity to create the work life balance you'll love; 26 days annual leave, rising to 32 days with tenure plus 10 statutory/bank holidays and an additional 20 days that can be purchased too. An Employee Assistance Programme for your family and yourself plus a generous Local Authority Pension available. Finally, we have an enviable employee benefits platform which provides numerous discounts from your weekly shop to holidays and entertainment with salary sacrifice options on electronics, bicycles, white goods, and cars.
14. Development: we'll provide support and development at each stage of your journey with us from induction through to personal and professional qualifications. There will be opportunities for career progression both vertically but also into other areas of the organisation if you wish. They'll be time for reflection and interaction with your line manager, as well as peer support from those within the wider team.
