Higher Level Teaching Assistant – SEN Secondary School
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive SEN secondary school in the Warrington area. The school supports pupils aged 11–16 with a wide range of special educational needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), communication difficulties and sensory needs. This is a full‑time role so Monday – Friday availability is essential.

⭐ The Role
As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Responsibilities include:
* Leading small group interventions and supporting targeted learning programmes
* Delivering pre‑planned lessons in the teacher’s absence
* Supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 and group basis
* Assisting with behaviour regulation and emotional support
* Adapting resources and activities to meet diverse learning needs
* Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, therapists and external professionals
* Supporting pupils with communication, social skills and independence
* Contributing to EHCP targets and progress reviews
* Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* HLTA qualification
* Experience working in an SEN school or supporting pupils with SEN
* Confidence delivering learning activities and supporting pupils aged 11–16
* Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs
* Positive behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
* Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with young people
* A calm, resilient and flexible approach
* Good communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
