DWP. Digital with Purpose.
DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work, and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
We are looking for a Lead Technical Architect to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital. We're driving a once-in-a-generation transformation of government services.
We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge technologies to build and maintain innovative, scalable and user-centric digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives.
The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

You'll lead architecture design for Management Information (MI) and Analytics services, two strategic capabilities that support thousands of users, from operational teams to ministers. You'll work across complex digital environments, combining sensitive data handling, cloud security and live service integration.
In this role, you'll manage a small team of architects and guide the design of solutions that meet user needs, align with strategy, and support digital transformation. You'll work with engineers, policy teams, legal, and cross-government colleagues to ensure architecture decisions are robust, scalable and secure.
You'll provide expert advice on tooling, drive resolution of technical and data debt, and ensure architecture artefacts are delivered to high standards. You'll also help shape best practice and share reference architectures across DWP Digital.
