Deputy Director, Engineering

The Deputy Director, Engineering reports to the Cernavoda 3 / 4 New Build Engineering Director and is responsible for leading a multi-discipline engineering team.
This role is based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
1. Manage the utilization of assigned engineering personnel.
2. Ensure qualified staff are assigned to appropriate tasks within their expertise.
3. Provide guidance, technical insights, supervision, and feedback to Engineering Managers.
4. Oversee technical deliverables, budget, schedule, and quality.
5. Ensure final deliverables meet customer requirements and comply with nuclear codes and standards.
6. Review and approve or delegate approval of key technical documentation.
7. Identify and propose organizational improvements proactively and in response to business changes.
8. Liaise with external clients on technical matters as directed by the Engineering Director.

The ideal candidate:
* Degree in engineering or science from an accredited university.
* Minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience, including supervisory roles.
* At least 10 years of experience working with CANDU technologies.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance.
* Experience with projects subject to import/export controls.
* Experience managing consultants and collaborating across offices.
* Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario or eligible within 6 months of hire.
* Strong knowledge of engineering fields and nuclear technologies.
* Proven leadership and project management skills in complex technical projects.
* Knowledge of construction methods, building systems, and terminology.
* Understanding of Canadian and EU regulatory practices.
* Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Business acumen with strategic thinking and financial understanding.
* Willingness to travel as required.
* Security clearance through PWGSC is mandatory.
