Job Description
Location: Various schools in Cheshire East
Agency: New Directions Education
Contract: Ad Hoc / Supply / Flexible
Salary: Competitive daily rates
Start date: ASAP or July 2026
Are you an ECT looking for flexibility, experience and the chance to find the right school for you?
Congratulations on qualifying! As an Early Career Teacher, you’ve worked incredibly hard to get to this stage — now it’s time to explore your options and take control of your career with New Directions Education.
Supply teaching through New Directions offers an excellent opportunity to experience a variety of school settings before committing to a permanent or long-term role. It allows you to build confidence, develop key skills, and discover what type of school environment truly suits you.
Whether you’re feeling excited, uncertain, or even questioning whether teaching is right for you — supply could be the step that changes everything.
Why Choose Supply with New Directions?
Try Before You Commit
Work across a range of partner schools, year groups and settings, helping you make informed decisions before securing a permanent post.
A True Reflection of Teaching
Gain a real, honest insight into day-to-day teaching — from classroom management to school culture — so there are no surprises when you do commit long-term.
Develop Your Behaviour Management
Strengthen your behaviour management strategies, adapt to different policies, and grow in confidence by teaching in a variety of classrooms.
Build Your Network
If your training year didn’t go as well as expected, supply gives you the opportunity to network with experienced teachers and senior leaders (SLT) who can offer guidance, mentoring and support.
Thinking of Leaving Teaching?
If you’re considering not going into teaching after your training year — why not give supply a go first? Many teachers rediscover their passion once the pressure of a permanent role is removed.
Stuck in LSA Work?
If you qualified last year but are only being offered LSA roles, New Directions will work with you to secure appropriate teaching opportunities, so you can build on the skills gained during your training year and progress in your career.
