JOB SUMMARY
Finance Officers Band 3 provides an administrative service/support in a variety of different settings within the Finance & Estates Directorate of the South Eastern H&SC Trust. They will work as an integral member of a team and be expected to use their own initiative.
The post holder will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks to support/assist in the effective and efficient provision of services within the Finance & Estates Department.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will be required to carry out a range of duties which may include all or some of the following:
1. Contribute to the Trusts overall Financial Governance Framework.
2. Ensuring financial information is processed in accordance with policies and procedures within prescribed timescales.
3. Investigate queries from range of stakeholders and provide assistance and information to both financial and non-financial people as and when required.
4. Maintain and assist with various reconciliations of control accounts.
5. Assist compliance with Public Sector Prompt Payment Policy.
6. Provide high quality administrative support to respective service area ensuring the effective operation of systems and procedures.
7. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
8. Effective organisational skills.
9. Input, process, monitor and validate information effectively in a timely manner ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
10. Ability to plan workload to ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial timetables met.
11. Ability to work on own initiative.
12. Ability to work / handle large volumes of cash / coin.
13. Ability to work with staff and clients at all levels in the Trust.
14. Word processing /producing reports/working on computer systems.
15. Input, manipulation and retrieval of financial data into computer databases and spreadsheets, where speed and accuracy are necessary.
16. Sorting and responding to mail/emails as appropriate.
17. Arrange appointments/meetings as requested.
18. Take minutes of meetings as required.
19. Maintain Filing System.
20. General office duties such as photocopying/faxing/ scanning.
21. Supervising staff and allocate work as appropriate.
22. Order stationery.
23. To participate in the Trust's Appraisal Process and participate in agreed training and development initiatives when identified.
24. Any other general tasks or projects within the remit of the band.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
4 GCSEs Grades A-C including English & Maths or equivalent and 1 years relevant experience*
Or
2 years relevant experience*
And
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages including Word and Excel.
*Relevant experience is defined as experience of working with computerised financial systems and financial operating procedures in a busy finance office. This should also include numerical calculations which are key within the variety of finance roles.
Other
Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
