Mastered has been on a mission to help creative professionals thrive at work since 2014, supporting more than 6,000 creators, brand owners, designer-makers, managers and leaders along the way.
Since 2022, we have been delivering government-funded Skills Bootcamps to upskill people in the games, film, immersive and creative tech industries - and have been lucky to work with some incredible studios and their talent in that time. With more funding secured for 2025 and beyond, we can grow the number of businesses who can access government-funded training; this role is pivotal to that growth.
Your mission
Ready for a challenging role where your business development skills can truly make an impact?
You will lead our business development strategy by forging and nurturing great relationships. You'll build connections based on truly, deeply knowing what studios need from best-in-class training, supported by an exceptional full-cycle sales process that you'll help us establish. You’ll ensure our funding and expertise go to the people and businesses that deserve it. And, as our first dedicated BD hire in this space, you'll have the opportunity to shape and build this function from the ground up.
What you’ll be doing
The ideal candidate will be a target-driven business development professional and relationship builder. Who wants to drive impact just as much as revenue. Day-to-day you will be:
* Proactively generating new leads through direct outreach, cold calling, and networking - you're not afraid to pick up the phone and create opportunities
* Being actively present at industry events, big or small, up and down the country - this is a job for someone who loves networking, loves meeting others in-person, and loves discovering the challenges they face
* Travelling to meet clients, trade bodies, communities that represent under-served talent in the industry, connectors, educators, and opinion formers
* Handling the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals
* Developing creative approaches to help Mastered stand out - we're looking for innovative thinkers who go beyond standard sales playbooks
* You’ll take full ownership of your pipeline and proactively share progress, challenges, and wins with key stakeholders; tracking and reporting on sales metrics while managing your pipeline effectively
* You’ll actively build internal relationships - especially those in curriculum design, client management, and delivery - to ensure a strong connection between what we promise and what we deliver
* Taking ownership for consistently meeting your business development targets
* Staying current with industry trends, market dynamics, and evolving skills needs
What you’ll need
* Proven track record in business development with examples of consistently hitting targets
* Experience creating standout approaches in competitive environments - we want to learn about specific examples of how you've helped your company differentiate itself
* We’re looking for someone who thrives on growth — who reflects on performance, seeks feedback, and is constantly sharpening their sales approach in a remote setting
* Background in selling training, apprenticeships, or creative services, would be beneficial - or, if not, a demonstrable interest in our mission
* Natural ability to generate leads and build relationships through direct outreach
* Outstanding communication skills with a tendency to overcommunicate rather than under-communicate
* Exceptional organisational abilities to be able to handle multiple workflows through to completion
* Comfort with regular travel to meet clients and attend industry events in-person across the UK
