Seymour John are proud to be partnering with a well‑established business based in Shrewsbury to recruit a conscientious and solutions‑focused Accounts Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join a supportive finance team in a varied role offering both autonomy and collaboration.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Accounts Manager, you will play a key part in the day‑to‑day finance operations while providing ad‑hoc support to other areas of the business as needed.
This is an onsite role, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
Key Responsibilities
* Coding and inputting invoices/credit notes
* Reconciling supplier statements, including manufacturers
* Preparing payment runs
* Resolving supplier queries
* Posting bank transactions daily
* Providing cover for VISA reconciliations and postings
* Preparing and posting journals
* Accruals
* Balance sheet reconciliations
* Assisting with month‑end processes
* Supporting wider business needs as required
Key Requirements
* Excellent communication skills, both face‑to‑face and over the phone
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* High attention to detail
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
* Able to work under pressure and meet monthly deadlines
* Good Excel skills

* Previous experience in a finance or Accounts Assistant role
* Solid understanding of general accounting principles and ledgers
* Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
* Confident working independently and collaboratively
* Proficient in Excel and accounting/finance systems
* Proactive and flexible, with a willingness to support wider business functions
