The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is the largest fire and rescue service in the UK and the fourth largest in the world. Our Firefighters are at the heart of our communities and work in what can be unpredictable, but most certainly an exciting and rewarding role. \n\nOur frontline is supported by a hardworking team of non-uniformed staff, from accountants and ICT specialists to cooks and technicians, without whom we could not function.\n\nOverview:\nWe are looking for a Networking Apprentice and the aim of this role is to contribute to the provision of a support and maintenance service within the DaTS Department. Working closely with the DaTS Network/Communications Team to ensure the availability and integrity of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Serviceâs 999 mobilising systems, telecommunications systems and local area network, plus all associated peripherals.\n\nThis role can be based in any of the following locations: Inverness, Dundee, Johnstone, Cambuslang and Newbridge. There will be an assessment centre day held on the 30th of October at Headquarters Westburn Dr, Cambuslang, Glasgow G72 7NA. \n\nSalary: £22,129 per annum\n\nWorking hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm \n\nBenefits:\nâ¢\tA competitive salary and attractive pension scheme\nâ¢\tA range of excellent family friendly policies including those that promote a work life balance\nâ¢\tAccess to a wide range of employee benefits\n\nFuture prospects:\n90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.\n â¢\tLearn how to maintain and repair SFRS network services in collaboration with suppliers\nâ¢\tLearn how to maintain and repair SFRS local area network equipment\nâ¢\tLearn how to maintain and repair network systems, including telephony\nâ¢\tSupport and maintenance of telephony systems, local area network equipment, mobile data solutions, wide area network services (SDWAN), corporate WiFi provisions and perimeter security services, such as firewalls\nâ¢\tProduce documentation for procedures, systems and installed equipment\nâ¢\tAttend all training and development activities as required, and complete all necessary studies and qualifications to achieve a Diploma Digital Technology: IT Infrastructure SCQF level 6 progressing onto Diploma Digital Technology: Network Infrastructure SCQF Level 8\n You will need the following skills:\n\nEssential:\nâ¢\tNational 4 Maths and English or equivalent\nâ¢\tConfident, enthusiastic, self-motivated and a drive to success in DaTS\nâ¢\tProactive attitude to problem solving and shows enthusiasm for learning new skills\nâ¢\tAbility to work in a fast paced environment\nâ¢\tA good team player and can also add value working independently\nâ¢\tExcellent oral and written communication skills\nâ¢\tUndertakes work with honesty and integrity\nâ¢\tWell organised and methodical, operating with pace, enthusiasm and creativity\n\nDesirable:\nâ¢\tNational 5 Maths and English or equivalent\nâ¢\tA clear desire for a career in DaTS\nâ¢\tA knowledge of DaTS networks and peripherals\nâ¢\tDriving licence / willingness to travel across Scotland to meet the business needs of the national service\n\nImportant information:\nThis vocational apprenticeship comprehensively supports your specific job role with this particular employer.
