About the role
Creative Technician (Fashion) to support the Visual arts faculty, specialising in the fashion department. The fashion department is seeking a creative, highly organised and flexible individual who can support the needs of the course and work well facilitating a range of different learners. Strong communication, problem solving, and ability to work as part of a creative team. Relevant qualification in fashion with experience in garment construction, sewing techniques, pattern cutting and fabric manipulation; good understanding of the production process and how a design studio operates. Some experience with sewing machine maintenance desired; willingness to develop skills in emerging digital technology.
Responsibilities
* Provide support, instruction, and supervision to students in the safe and correct use of equipment, materials and processes.
* Maintain equipment in designated areas and upkeep stock levels.
* Maintain and supervise the safe and efficient operation of the teaching area.
* Support relevant recruitment activities and assist in the growth of the fashion programme.
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in fashion; experience with garment construction, sewing techniques, pattern cutting and fabric manipulation.
* Understanding of the production process and how a design studio operates.
* Experience with sewing machine maintenance desired; willingness to develop skills in emerging digital technology.
