Offer description

We are seeking a passionate and motivated researcher to join the Road Safety Trust-funded project Safe-SEND (Mapping Road Safety Challenges to Independent Mobility for Children with Special Educational Needs) at the Transport Studies Unit, University of Oxford.

Working closely with Dr Xiao Li and Dr Anna Plyushteva, the post holder will play a key role in an innovative, mixed-methods research project focused on identifying and addressing the road safety challenges faced by children with SEND and their families/carers.

This includes fieldwork in Swindon using participatory mapping, interviews, go-along interviews, video diaries, and focus groups. The successful candidate will help develop an open-access tool to map risk locations, contribute to academic publications, engage with stakeholders, and support the co-creation of tailored interventions that promote safer, more independent mobility.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful, inclusive research that informs policy, supports families, and makes streets safer for some of society's most vulnerable young people.

This post should be taken up by 1 September 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter). It is fixed-term until 31 August 2027- and offered on a full-time basis.
