As a Process Technologist at Medik8, you will play a crucial supporting role in our R&D department, assisting senior engineers in the development and optimisation of skincare product manufacturing processes. This position offers hands-on experience in batch processing, emulsion formulation, and quality control, providing a solid foundation for a career in cosmetic science and engineering. This is a 10 month fixed term contract role and would be a great first graduate/sandwich year role to get fantastic experience and exposure on line implementation and set up work, with a very focussed scope. In more detail your role will include: Process Support and Documentation Assist the Process Engineers in collecting and organising data related to manufacturing processes, including batch records, process parameters, and quality control results. Prepare and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various manufacturing processes. Compile and analyse process data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement. Assist in the preparation of technical reports, process flow diagrams, and other documentation required for regulatory compliance and internal use. Laboratory and Trial Support Conduct small-scale laboratory trials under the guidance of senior engineers to test new formulations and process modifications (5 l CSTR). Assist in scaling up laboratory formulations to pilot-scale production, recording key parameters and observations. Perform basic rheological measurements and stability tests on emulsions and other formulations. Maintain accurate records of all experimental work and trial results. Data Management and Analysis Collect and organise data from various sources within the R&D department and production data (batch card records). Use statistical tools and software to analyse process data and present findings to senior team members. Create and maintain databases of process parameters. Assist in the creation of visual aids such as charts and graphs for presentations and reports. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with the Process Engineers and other R&D team members to support ongoing projects. Liaise with the Quality Assurance department to ensure compliance with quality standards (deviation process support when deemed process-related). Continuous Improvement Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for process improvements and cost reduction. Stay updated on the latest developments in cosmetic science and manufacturing technologies. Assist in the implementation of new technologies and methodologies in the R&D laboratory Requirements: BEng in Chemical Engineering, Formulation Engineering or related discipline. Basic understanding of cosmetic formulation principles and manufacturing processes. Attention to detail and high levels of self-motivation. Organised individual with ability to work against deadlines and in-situ requests. Familiarity with emulsion technology and polymer chemistry (desirable). Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and basic process control procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office/ Google suite, particularly Excel/Sheets for data analysis. Basic understanding of statistical analysis and data visualisation techniques. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels. Enthusiasm for skincare science and a willingness to learn and grow within the role. Methodical person with great attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Please note : The successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire.
