About the role
We are looking to appoint a Research Assistant or postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to the development and validation of computational models for outcome predictions in craniofacial surgeries delivered using devices. The role is funded for up to one year, and an extension may be possible subject to funding. Funding is made available from NIHR GOSH Biomedical Research Centre. The post offers an excellent career development opportunity for a post-doc with an interest in biomedical engineering, medical devices, computational modelling and translation of technologies into clinical practice. The post holder will gain knowledge in congenital craniofacial abnormalities, medical image processing, computational modelling, device design and regulatory. There will be the opportunity for the post-holder to apply for grants to fund further personal and professional development, and long-term salary. The post-holder will be line managed by Professor Silvia Schievano and based in the Zayed Centre for Research at UCL GOS Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. The salary offered in this role is at either grade 6B (£39, - £41, per annum) or grade 7 (£45, per annum) and is funded until 30/09/ in the first instance.
About you
Candidates must have a BEng/Meng/BSc/MSc/PhD or equivalent qualification in biomedical engineering, medical physics, mechatronics and medical robotics or a related subject, and a strong knowledge of bone biomechanics, computational modelling, machine learning and device design. Previous experience in extended reality platforms, medical device regulatory requirements and research governance would be desirable. The post holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of the project, in collaboration with the team of clinicians, engineers, computer scientists and healthcare professionals from the Craniofacial Research Unit FaceValue.
