Infant Feeding Maternity Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Women’s Health Division of Warrington and Halton Hospital NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible support worker to join in our team.
Main duties of the job
As an Infant Feeding Maternity Support Worker you will support to fully implement UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative enabling Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust to achieve full accreditation. The Infant Feeding Maternity Support Worker will support our infant feeding team to deliver high quality, family-centred support to the population of Warrington & Halton.
As we work towards our Level 2 BFI Accreditation, the post holder will work closely with our Infant Feeding Lead, providing information, demonstrating good practices and working with families, which promotes and supports breastfeeding locally. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with staff and community services to implement & uphold the UNICEF BFI standards.
You will be required to possess an NVQ Level 3 in care and demonstrate excellent communication and caring skills to ensure our women and babies receive the highest quality of care. Person Specification
Experience
* Demonstrate experience in infant feeding and UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards.
* Experience in support in an infant feeding role.
* Ability to work with staff and women from a diverse range of backgrounds
* Evidence of working in hospital setting
Qualifications
* UNICEF BFI Management Course/Peer Counsellor course.
* Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent higher breastfeeding training with appropriate clinical experience.
* GCSE English Language and Maths A to C or 4-9 or functional skills or equivalent
Skills, knowledge and competencies
* Confident in using a computer. Experience of using IT systems in an NHS setting.
* Awareness and/or experience of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative.
* Knowledge of local, national and global strategies relevant to breastfeeding and infant feeding.
* Experience of working with families
Specific Role Requirement
* To be able to work closely with the infant feeding lead in order to initiate new ideas, practices and approaches to direct clinical care of the mother.
* To have the ability to work effectively within a team or independently.
* To demonstrate good time management skills and manage own timetable.
