Join CAE's Civil Aviation Training team as Lead – Accounting & Financial Reporting, where you will lead our global finance and reporting team within the Civil Aviation division at our London‑Gatwick Commercial Training Centre in Crawley.
In this role, you will:
* Ensure the timely month‑end close, including all required corporate reporting.
* Ensure statutory obligations and deadlines are met across all jurisdictions (taxation, financial statements, VAT reporting, etc.).
* Maintain a strong internal control environment and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to evolve and improve processes.
* Lead comprehensive balance sheet reviews with clear governance.
* Act as a liaison between accounting, FP&A, business development, M&A, treasury, tax, internal and external audit, shared services (AR/AP), and consolidation teams.
* Support standardization initiatives and enhancements to the controls environment in partnership with the Civil Aviation reporting leader.
* Build strong working relationships with business units outside finance to support operational growth and strategic priorities.
* Lead the month‑end process in line with the defined matrix and responsibilities, including recurring and ad‑hoc journals.
* Oversee the monthly intercompany confirmation process, including reconciliation of unbilled balances.
* Oversee preparation and submission of corporate reporting packages.
* Ensure timely completion and continuous improvement of revenue reconciliations across the region.
* Oversee entity‑level balance sheet reconciliations, identifying monthly risks and opportunities and governing key areas such as leases, loans, prepaids, and purchase orders.
* Manage bank account administration and prepare cash flow forecasts for short‑ and long‑term funding needs, including variance analysis.
* Lead fixed asset governance and IFRS 16 processes, including monthly postings and lease amendments or additions.
* Oversee the expense claim process, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
* Ensure timely completion of VAT returns, WHT, payroll taxes, and other local tax requirements, with all associated reconciliations.
* Contribute to the preparation of corporation tax computations for all legal entities in the region.
* Lead and/or actively participate in internal and external audits for all regional entities.
Minimum Qualifications
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
* Full understanding of financial accounting to trial balance.
* Experience with IFRS reporting.
* Ability to work with multiple foreign currencies.
* Strong organisational capabilities.
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment delivering accurate and timely output.
* Strong computer skills and ability to learn financial systems (ERP), Hyperion Planning, HFM, databases, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Word.
* Fluent in English (written & spoken).
* Ability to deal decisively with routine and non‑routine matters independently.
* Ability to investigate nominal ledger accounts and support issue resolution.

* Team management experience (direct, indirect, or project‑based).
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Flexible mindset; ability to adapt to changes in the business.
* Ability to learn financial requirements across different countries.
* Stress‑resistant and able to perform under pressure (e.g., tight deadlines).
* Additional languages considered an asset.
