Specialist Teaching Assistant – Supporting Complex Needs & SEMH – Plymouth A specialist provision within an inclusive academy in Plymouth, Devon, is seeking a highly skilled and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex learning difficulties. Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant required. Part-time or Full-time contracts available, starting January 2026. Focus on one-to-one or small group support for EHCP students. Required to implement therapeutic and behaviour management strategies. This demanding but incredibly rewarding role requires confidence in managing challenging situations and implementing personalized learning plans, often involving liaison with external agencies and pastoral teams. Requirements and Qualifications Essential: Significant experience supporting students with SEMH, Autism (ASC), or severe learning difficulties. Training in Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Management, or Thrive is highly advantageous. Exceptional resilience, patience, and empathetic communication skills. Ability to accurately record and report on student progress and incidents.
