This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 6 within the Trust, to step into a Deputy Ward Manager role and further develop their leadership and operational management skills.
The post holder will support the Ward Manager in the day-to-day operational management of the service, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality patient care is delivered within the community setting. As our services has evolved and expanded within Emergency Care, there is a clear need for strengthened leadership structure to support workforce oversight, governance, and service sustainability. Not only will you be supporting the Ward Manager on EAU, but also in SDEC, with exciting new investments in this area.
The Deputy Ward Manager will provide clinical leadership, support staff supervision and development, assist with rota management and capacity planning, and contribute to performance monitoring and quality improvement initiatives. The role requires the post holder to act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and organisational policies at all times.
Main duties of the job
* Support the Ward Manager in the operational management of the service.
* Provide visible clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
* Assist in maintaining safe staffing levels and appropriate skill mix.
* Support rota coordination, absence management, and workforce planning.
* Undertake clinical supervision, appraisal support, and staff development.
* Monitor patient flow and support effective caseload management.
* Contribute to governance processes, audits, and quality assurance activity.
* Act up as deputy in the absence of the Ward Manager where appropriate.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, with active registration.
* NST 307 or equivalent.
* Relevant training at level 2 or equivalent
* ECDL or equivalent.
* Further relevant training at level 3 or equivalent.
* ALS
