Meadowbrook unit provides mental health support for adults of working age. The unit has two male acute wards (Eagleton with 19 beds and Maccoll with 18 beds), one female acute ward (Keats with 22 beds), and one male PICU (8 beds - Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit).
This vacancy is for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager on Keats Ward.
This role emphasizes patient-centered care and therapeutic engagement, ensuring all aspects of direct patient care are delivered at the highest quality. The post involves supporting clinical interventions, providing clinical leadership on a shift-to-shift basis, and collaborating with the Ward Manager to develop and transform nursing care to meet service users' mental and physical needs, ensuring cultural appropriateness and compliance with professional guidance.
The post holder will take charge of shifts on a rotational basis, act as a primary nurse to service users and their carers, and maintain effective communication with all relevant personnel involved in the care of service users, both internal and external to the Trust.
In collaboration with the Ward Manager, the post holder will ensure ongoing professional development for ward staff through coaching, mentoring, audits, supervision, and training. They will deputize for the Ward Manager as needed, promote multidisciplinary team working, and lead on nursing issues and leadership.
All staff are expected to uphold the Trust's values and contribute to high standards of care by:
* Being a quality inspector, reporting errors or risks, and taking corrective actions where possible.
* Proactively identifying risks and resolving problems, liaising with Line Management.
* Participating in clinical and non-clinical risk management practices to enhance patient safety.
