Annual salary: up to £42,840.00 Plumber Location: Nottingham Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (42.5 hours per week) Salary: £42.840 per Annum Benefits: Company van, fuel card, training & development, staff rewards About the Role A bit about our branch, the Task Team (Central), along with our South Team (Based in Essex) and our North Team (Based in Durham) Our team helps mobilise, demobilise and support contracts throughout the whole of Mears, We provide support for contracts that are understaffed, have works in progress that need reducing. We mainly carry out repairs on Day to Day/Response works, but we are occasionally used for Voids and Planned also. This means we can work on any contract within Mears who needs assistance, our main areas for works are: Birmingham, Coventry, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and Stoke on Trent along with surrounding areas, with sometimes staying away/travelling to assist on contracts. With the Task Team (Central) we are looking to mobilise 12 Operatives, 1 Planner and 1 Supervisor to create this new branch within Mears and help assist branches that need it. We’re looking for a skilled Plumber to join our team in Nottingham. You’ll carry out a variety of internal painting and decorating tasks across residential properties, Supporting responsive maintenance works. This is a hands-on role requiring precision, professionalism, and a strong eye for detail. You’ll be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying finishes, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. You’ll work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team, helping return properties to a lettable or liveable condition efficiently and to a high standard. Duties: Carry out responsive plumbing repairs in occupied properties Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, and drainage issues Replace taps, toilets, cisterns, basins, and other sanitary ware Repair or replace pipework, valves, and fittings Investigate and resolve issues with hot water systems and radiators Ensure all work complies with current plumbing regulations and health and safety standards Record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets Remove, repair, or replace bath panels as part of routine plumbing maintenance or to access pipework for leak detection and repair, ensuring panels are securely refitted and finished to a professional standard Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order Work respectfully in residents’ homes, maintaining a clean and safe environment Identify and report any additional works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues Participate in the out-of-hours emergency rota when required Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures Provided high levels of customer care at all times Role Criteria: Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance in a plumbing position Experience in Carpentry repairs and maintenance Full UK driving licence Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota Benefits 25 days annual leave Training and development opportunities Mears Rewards – discounts on groceries, holidays, eye tests, and more Mears Employee Assistance Programme – confidential support for personal and work-related issues Long service leave – recognition for your commitment over time Share Save and You Earn scheme – buy shares at a reduced rate Company van, fuel card, and uniform provided All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship.
