Manager, M&A Analytics – EY-Parthenon, Birmingham

At EY-Parthenon, our unique combination of transformative strategy, transactions, tax and corporate finance delivers real-world value—solutions that work in practice, not just on paper. Benefiting from EY’s full spectrum of services, we’ve reimagined strategic consulting to work in a world of increasing complexity. With deep functional and sector expertise, paired with innovative AI-powered technology and an investor mindset, we partner with CEOs, boards, private equity and governments every step of the way.

The opportunity

EY-Parthenon’s Transaction Analytics team helps clients use data to make better decisions at critical moments in the deal lifecycle. We work with private equity investors, corporates, management teams and other advisers on buy‑side, sell‑side, vendor assistance and exit readiness engagements. Our work sits at the intersection of M&A, financial due diligence, commercial insight and advanced analytics. We turn complex financial, operational and commercial datasets into clear, robust analysis that supports the equity story, helps answer bidder and investor questions, and gives clients greater confidence in transaction decisions.

This role is an opportunity to join our growing Birmingham Transaction Analytics team and help build a regional platform within one of the UK’s leading deal analytics practices.

Your key responsibilities

* Lead day-to-day delivery of Transaction Analytics workstreams across buy‑side, sell‑side, vendor assistance and exit readiness engagements.
* Translate deal questions and value hypotheses into practical analytics workplans, prioritising analysis based on materiality, timeline and client need.
* Manage executives and analysts, providing coaching, review and quality control across data preparation, modelling, dashboards and databooks.
* Lead client discussions on data availability, data quality, analytical approach and emerging findings.
* Build and review reconciled data cubes, dynamic databooks and dashboards that support due diligence, equity‑story development and bidder Q&A.
* Coordinate with Financial Due Diligence, Corporate Finance, Strategy, Tax and sector teams to ensure joined‑up insights across workstreams.
* Review analysis of revenue, margin, customer, cohort, pricing, retention, site or project‑level performance and ensure outputs are clearly linked to the transaction narrative.
* Ensure analytical outputs are accurate, clearly documented, repeatable and capable of supporting client, investor and bidder questions.
* Contribute to development of reusable tools, templates, sector‑specific approaches and Birmingham team capability.

Skills and attributes for success

* Strong commercial thinking and ability to understand the financial and operational drivers of a business.
* Ability to analyse businesses at pace and identify where to focus effort in a live transaction environment.
* Ability to gather, verify and assess information to formulate robust views and factual conclusions.
* Experience planning, preparing and reviewing deliverables including visualisations, written reports, presentations and client discussion materials.
* Strong attention to detail with a logical, structured and methodical approach.
* Strong team management, coaching and communication skills.
* Ability to communicate complex analytical findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Confidence working across service lines and building effective relationships at different levels.

To qualify for the role

* Commercial experience and/or relevant industry, analytics, finance or transaction experience.
* Experience managing analytical workstreams or projects, including reviewing outputs from junior team members.
* Understanding of data manipulation, integration and visualisation tools such as Excel, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, SQL or Python.
* A passion for providing high quality service to clients.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high quality outputs under transaction timelines.

Ideally, you’ll also have

* Experience working in a transaction, financial due diligence, corporate finance, strategy, consulting or professional services environment.
* Experience leading client‑facing discussions or presenting analytical findings to senior stakeholders.
* Experience using SQL, Python, R, VBA or other analytical languages.
* Experience developing dashboards, databooks, reconciled data models or analytical outputs that support commercial or transaction decisions.

What we look for

We are looking for people who can combine analytical capability with commercial judgement. You will be comfortable leading teams, asking the right questions, challenging analysis, and converting complex data into clear insight that influences transaction decisions.

What we offer

We will fuel your ambition and potential with future‑focused skills development that equips you with state‑of‑the‑art methodologies and technology‑enabled solutions. With more than 25,000 people in 150 countries, you will join an inclusive and empowering culture that values your uniqueness, prioritises your wellbeing, and immerses you in diverse thinking and cross‑cultural experiences necessary to help deliver impact to clients worldwide.

To help create the best experience during the recruitment process, please describe any disability‑related adjustments or accommodations you may need.
