We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts and co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations.
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly look for ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a great understanding of your store's performance and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
2. Open and close the store, completing duty cover and making decisions that prioritize customer safety and satisfaction.
3. Act as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for daily operational queries.
4. Support the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere.
5. Ensure the store is always clean, tidy, and well-presented.
6. Prioritize replenishment of products important to customers.
7. Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels are accurate.
8. Address overcharges immediately and prevent reoccurrences.
9. Proactively manage queues to enhance the shopping experience.
10. Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks effectively.
11. Maintain knowledge about store operations and implement improvements.
12. Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
13. Communicate effectively with the team and keep them informed.
14. Identify operational efficiencies and share ideas with the Store Manager.
15. Always prioritize the customer, resolving queries promptly and adjusting service to meet individual needs.
16. Recognize colleagues providing excellent service and help remove obstacles to delivering great service.
17. Resolve colleague queries or escalate to the Store Manager when necessary.
18. Ensure appropriate staffing levels, managing short-term absences and sick leave.
19. Act as a Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store safety and security.
20. Monitor and act on internal communications promptly, keeping colleagues informed.
21. Balance time between service and replenishment areas.
22. Support the Store Manager in managing staff absence, conducting return-to-work interviews, and reporting absences.
23. Build relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues and seeking coaching opportunities.
24. If this store has a Post Office Local, duties will include day-to-day operations of the post office, which requires passing a background check. Failure to pass will result in withdrawal of the job offer.
