About the role
Are you a highly successful educator, with leadership experience in special education, looking for your next challenge?
“Empowering Ngāi Tahutanga and all that it encompasses into the physical spaces, curriculum and hearts and minds moving through the education system” is both the journey and the horizon here at Te Aratai. We are dedicated to a kaupapa that is focused on the potential of ‘all’ learners to thrive in the education system without compromising who they are. If you really like teens and pre-teens and have a deep connection, passion and vision for this call, we would very much like to hear from you.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced leader to this full time, permanent leadership position of head of learning area (HoLA); Te Pā Harakeke and special education needs coordinator (SENCO). This role sits within what is termed learning support in other kura. The position has a 4-hour teaching component, dependent on the roll and wider kura staffing considerations and comes with 4PMU and 1PMMA.
The position starts Wednesday 28 January 2026.
