ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER PERMANENT CRAWLY WEST SUSSEX We seek an electrical design engineer to work in our aircraft simulation business based in Crawley. You will be on sight 4 days per week with one day working from home. Role Responsibilities • Lead or contribute to the design and development of Electrical hardware solutions for flight simulators with a mechanical bias, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and industry standards. • Drive the development of innovative hardware capabilities, focusing on quality, performance, and reliability in aerospace environments. • Oversee or support the creation of detailed technical specifications, schematics, and models for mechanical and electrical systems. • Manage projects or work within cross-functional teams, collaborating with software engineers, systems engineers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions. • Ensure that all hardware components comply with aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring safety-critical operations. • Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of hardware systems to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards. • Lead or support the evaluation of new technologies and materials, driving continuous innovation in the development of flight simulation products. • Provide technical leadership or contribute to mentoring junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment. • Engage with suppliers to manage the sourcing and integration of mechanical and electrical components. • Ensure the delivery of projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with customer expectations. What we need from you. Skills / Proven Ability · Proven ability in an electrical design role, ideally within the simulation, aerospace, defence, or capital equipment sectors. · Demonstrated ability to lead or work within multi-disciplinary teams, with excellent communication and collaboration skills. · Proven ability with 3D CAD eg Pro E / Catia / Solidworks etc · Proficiency in electrical CAD tools for schematic capture, wiring diagram production, and panel layout. · Proven ability designing three-phase and single-phase power distribution systems, including switchgear selection, protection coordination, and cable sizing calculations. · Have a practical understanding of EMC principles, including shielding, filtering, grounding for EMC, cable segregation, and experience supporting or leading EMC test campaigns. · Proven ability in computing system electrical integration, including rack power distribution, cooling provisions, and high-density signal/data cabling. · A sound knowledge of BS 7671, the Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive, and applicable harmonised standards. · Proven ability working within a gated design process (concept through to production release) with formal review milestones. · Familiarity with aerospace and European standards and regulations including relevant Mechanical and Electrical Standards · Solid testing & validation skills.
